Eight is Great from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a little bit of excitement here this morning. Mike saw a single lightning flash followed by a boom that sounded as if someone had set off a bomb outside. It was just that single "cracken-boomer," followed by a short downpour. It scared Smitty right out of his comfy chair. That seemed to satisfy the thunder gods. The rain has stopped now, and things are back to normal. Ya gotta wonder what got into the weather just then. Even Smitty has resumed his sleeping position, but on my desk now. I gave him a quilt ...

Four Down from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and Happy May Day to you!

May Day is made more special here at the Three Cats Ranch because it's also our DIL Mae's birthday. Happy Birthday, Mae!

It was an exhausting day yesterday. As you are probably well aware, I started the arduous task of sandwiching 17 quilts for quilting over the next several days. My goal is to do four per day. Day 1 finished with four down, 13 to go. And if you're good at math, you know there's one extra in that calculation. If I haven't done ...

Too Late and Too Early from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a no-sewing day yesterday. This PT business is getting in the way of my sewing. On the other hand, I can't deny that it's helping. If it can help me avoid a surgery, then it will have been worth it.

My morning activities included some time outside. I filled the hummingbird feeders, and then took a walk around. The azaleas are working hard at taking over as the stars of the garden.

They're going to have plenty of competition from the rhododendrons. They too are started opening.

This is one of ...

Head Rest Headway from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The sky has turned a little gloomy both yesterday and today. It works for me because it's a grocery shopping day. We were just there last week, and so our list is relatively short. Also today, I need to feed our hungry birds. I know they're hungry because they can empty our feeders in two days. Also, it's that time of year when I need to remind myself to water the flower pots. I'll check on those while I'm out and water them as needed.

As for yesterday's comings and ...

Something New from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was another lovely day here at the Three Cats Ranch. Mike and I gratefully took the opportunity to get outside and spruce up the yard a little bit. There was a gangly three-quarters-dead azalea that needed to be taken out. We’ve talked about it for at least two years. Finally, I was inclined to cut out the dead stuff and see how it would do. As we discussed what should be cut and what shouldn’t, Mike went and got his tools and dug the thing up. (There’s more than one way to ...

Another Bridge from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Saturday turned out to be another lovely day to get out and enjoy the weather. We had some errands to run in town, and we wanted to cross over the pedestrian bridge in Sherwood again. And we did a few other things not on the day's agenda. First...the bridge. We crossed it more mindfully this time. Mike, engineer and handyman that he is, was good company for this mindful excursion. He was appreciative of the materials and workmanship. So let's have another more mindful journey, shall we? Or don't. You don't ...

Two Marvelous Days from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's been an action-packed couple of days. I have so much to tell you, so let's get started right away. I'll start with the sewing. After that, I'll tell you about my walk with Matthew along the Willamette River waterfront...that was yesterday. And then, I'll tell you about our dinner Thursday night. Okay? Okay. Here we go.

In the sewing room, I managed to find enough time to finish the top-stitching on the latest two blocks for the Northern Wilderness project. Here's Block #9, the Outhouse.

And here's ...

Bittersweet from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Yesterday was a day of things getting between me and my sewing. As much as the day tried to keep me fabric free, I was able to get in a little bit of slow-stitching and a successful FART (Fabric Aquisition Road Trip). It was a day for physical therapy. I was in need of a couple of fabrics for different projects, and so I sweetened the bitter trip to PT with a trip to the fabric store.

Before I needed to leave, I took the first stitches on October's block for a year in the ...

Loony from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's another gray day here at the Three Cats Ranch. We're expecting better weather tomorrow and Friday. It would be nice to have good weather on Friday. Matthew and I are planning a walk down by the Willamette River. If the weather is uncooperative, we have an alternative plan, but the walk would be nice. Fingers crossed.

It was a busy day yesterday. Honestly, I didn't think I could get it all done, but I did. There was laundry to do, treadmills to walk, housekeeping to do, bread to bake, and the list ...

Making Progress from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. There was a lot on yesterday's agenda. Not as much was accomplished in the sewing room as I'd hoped, but there was some progress. Probably I'll end the day with some top-stitching. But first, I'm going to finish off the last of the snowman and the reindeer.

When I finished with yesterday's slow-stitching, I happened to look outside to see Smitty sitting in his favorite spot. He can keep watch on his entire terrortory from this spot, and the sunshine isn't too intense. They were smart to enjoy the sunshine ...
