What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

 Good morning, my friends. We reached Fairbanks, Alaska, yesterday morning. As we left Delta Junction, I spotted the first barn I've seen in weeks! 

It's been my practice on this trip to read the Milepost between our current location and the day's final destination, taking pictures with my phone of anything that looks interesting. Good afternoon, my friends. I'm writing to you from Fairbanks, Alaska, this afternoon. I'll tell you about today's drive in tomorrow's post. For now, I want to tell you about the quilt shop in Delta Junction. I was surprised to find a quilt shop in such a small town. Apparently the long dark and cold winters encourage quilting. 

Here's how the shop looked from the outside. There was one other customer there when I arrived.

For now, I want to tell you about the quilt shop in Delta Junction. I was surprised to find a quilt shop in such a small town. Apparently the long dark and cold winters encourage quilting.

Happily, the marker is located at the Visitor Center in Delta Junction. A very nice man greeted us there and offered to take our picture.

But let's just back up to the beginning of our day. Of course, we enjoyed more stunning views of the mountains. The scenery never gets old.

Good morning, my friends. We had a day of rest here in Tok yesterday. We had some "life" things to take care of. We bought groceries. Up until now, we've mostly been surviving on leftovers I brought from home for dinners. From here on, I'll have to do some actual cooking. Thus, the trip to the grocery store. It was still a relatively short list.

Good morning, my friends. Alaska beckons. In just a few days we'll be there. For now, we find ourselves near Haines Junction, still in Yukon Territory. It doesn't seem possible that the mountains could be any more stunning, but yesterday's drive proved it to be so.

Here's the blow-by-blow of yesterday's drive. We crossed this bridge over the Takhini River.

Some of the campgrounds are first come, first serve, but I have a reserved spot at this one. At $18 Canadian, it's a bargain.

It started with a short and scenic day of driving, followed by a visit to a quilt shop, followed by trip to Miles Canyon, which has been called the Grand Canyon of the Yukon.
